The Rupert Elementary students, (all 180 students), visited the Rupert Public Library to help us celebrate National Library Week 2015. Each student has a library card. These students are such a joy to have visit us. They are so eager to check out books and read. On hand to help the staff were Deloris Lilly, Nancy Cueto, Barbara Hill, and Teresa Andrews. Library Director Carol McClung and Library Aide Novella Perkins were handling the circulation desk. It was a fun day. We look forward to seeing them more often and hearing their stories about the books they read.

Easter Egg Hunt
Our first annual Easter Egg Hunt was held Saturday, March 28th inside the library. Although we had a snow storm that morning the families came out to enjoy the hunt. Over 50 children hunted eggs and enjoyed the festivities. Nancy Cueto read books to the children as well as the adults. Seven prizes were given away as well each child received a "goodie" bag to take home. Homemade cookies and punch were served after the egg hunt.
The winners of the prizes were: Elizah Russell, Hunter Hendrix, Madison Carr, Kyndall Taylor, Brooklynn McKenzie, Shannen Mooney, and Kristen McClung.
A special thanks goes to all the volunteers: Glenda Killen, Mary Erdely, Janice Welsh, Nancy Cueto, Cleo Novak, Sue Nickell, and Teresa Andrews. Thanks to Deloris Lilly for making cookies.
Library staff members Carol McClung, and Novella Perkins wish to thank the community for their support of the library. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all.

Today is our First Anniversary. It's hard to believe we have been in our new building for a year. Time passes too fast. This past year has been wonderful by all means. The public response to the new library has been overwhelming. We offer many more activities and a larger selection of books, movies, and audio books.
The board of trustees and staff are looking forward to serving their patrons in the coming years. We hope to see you soon. Thank you for your support. We do appreciate "YOU".

Visit from artist Max Hayslette
Artist Max Hayslette gave a surprise visit to our library September 5th. Max was born in Rupert and completed his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago. He currently resides in the Seattle, WA area. When Max heard that Mina Shafer had given the Hardware store to the Town of Rupert stipulating it be the public library he wanted to be a part of the renovation project. He emailed the director telling her that he wanted to donate three original oil paintings for the purpose of raising funds because he had a place in his heart for Rupert. The paintings raised $14,000. The painting of George Washington, seen in this picture, is very outstanding. The title of the painting is "George and the Boogie Woogie" We didn't know our blue wall and cranberry colored chair would be a perfect match for the painting.
The library director was so glad to meet Mr. Hayslette and share a few moments with him talking about his early life and his life now that he is 85 years "young". He is still painting and enjoys good health.
See you at the library
