Art Show at the Library

Local artist, Randy Windon, took home three awards for his acrylic painting on wood titled "Double Trouble" at the Rupert Public Library Art Show held April 28th - 30th.  Randy received the blue ribbon, best in show, and the peoples choice award.
The artist told the people attending the library art show reception that he has only been painting for fifteen months.  Library Director, Carol McClung, was pleased to accept two of his paintings as donations to the library.
The art show was a huge success.  Artists from the Greenbrier Valley and Grandview exhibited forty paintings in four categories.  Blue, red, and white ribbons were given in each category.  The library staff and board members were honored to have Robert Tuckwiller judge the art entries.
During the reception held Friday evening the "Goodson Boys" entertained over seventy guests.  Levi Skaggs, age 10, was so glad that he was asked to play his banjo with the Goodson Boys.  Of course our wonderful board members and friends of the library prepared delicious food for everyone to enjoy.  The WV Woodturners Association members Gerald Chandler and Fonzie Fitzwater had a display of their wonderful wooden pieces.  Special thanks goes to Karen Lee McClung for planning and assisting the library staff with their first art show.  Thank you to everyone who had a part in making this event a success.  The Rupert Public Library staff and board members hope to promote ART in their community by sponsoring events such as these in the future.

Halloween party

Halloween afternoon we held a fun time at the library for the neighborhood children.  All the children came in their costume and enjoyed decorating masks.

Theodore Roosevelt portrayal

Gene Worthington of Fayetteville portrayed "Theodore Roosevelt" (1858-1919) at the Library.  An excellent portrayal was enjoyed by all attending.  West Virginia Humanities Council offers this portrayal through their History Alive!, An invitation to the past program.

During one of the classes for our Homeschool Group, these students put together an electricity generating turbine.
